When someone visits TikTok on a desktop web browser, the platform displays videos through two layers:

1.The Core Video File (.mp4):This is the original, publicly accessible file that TikTok makes available at the video’s direct URL. This file, as served by TikTok, does not contain a permanent watermark embedded into the actual video data.

2.The Watermark Overlay:On TikTok’s website, the watermark is added dynamically on top of the video in the browser interface. It is not “baked into” or physically integrated within the original .mp4 file. Instead, it’s an overlay that TikTok’s front-end application applies as you watch.
